Anthony Joshua is back. After more than a year and a half out of the ring, the two-time unified heavyweight champion returns on Saturday 25 July at the Jeddah Superdome against Albanian puncher Kristian Prenga — a comeback night with two world title fights underneath it and, hovering over everything, the shadow of a Tyson Fury super-fight.
The storylines
For Joshua this is about answering one question: what’s left? At 36, after the Daniel Dubois knockout and a long layoff with surgery in between, AJ needs rounds and needs to look devastating doing it — because the only fight that matters after this one is Fury, and Eddie Hearn isn’t hiding it. Prenga is the classic comeback assignment with a twist: he can genuinely bang, and Joshua’s chin is the thing everyone will be watching for the first time it gets tested.
It’s also a UK PPV-night rhythm without the PPV hours — Jeddah is only two hours ahead, so the main event lands in British prime time rather than the early hours.
The undercard is legitimately good
Two world titles are on the line before AJ walks. Josh Kelly — one of British boxing’s great redemption arcs — defends his IBF super-welterweight title against unbeaten Belfast man Caoimhin Agyarko in a genuine 50-50. Hamzah Sheeraz, fresh off winning the WBO super-middleweight belt, makes his first defence against Germany’s Simon Zachenhuber. Add Olympic gold medallist Oleksandr Khyzhniak and hyped Japanese amateur star Hayato Tsutsumi, and this is one of the deepest Saudi cards of the year.
When to tune in
Coverage from the Jeddah Superdome starts around 5:00 PM BST on Saturday 25 July, world title fights from mid-evening, and Joshua’s ring walk expected around 10:00 PM BST — subject to the usual boxing schedule drift. The event streams worldwide on DAZN; the free stream linked above carries the entire card from first bell to last, no sign-up required.
Same night, other hemisphere: Errol Spence Jr vs Tim Tszyu goes down in Sydney in the early hours of Sunday UK time — our guide to that card is on the site too. Boxing fans are eating well on the 25th.
